About Us

Sheep Herders of South Carolina was founded on the conviction that serving those who served is both an honor and an obligation.

Hear directly from our founder about the heart behind Sheep Herders of South Carolina and the mission to seek out veterans in crisis and help connect them to safety, stability, and support.

Faith & Calling: The name "Sheep Herders" comes from Luke 15:4–7, where Jesus tells of a shepherd who leaves his ninety-nine sheep to find the one who is lost. To us, this is not simply a parable—it is a calling: to seek out those in need and walk beside them until they are safe.

We meet veterans where they are and help navigate the next right step—intake, paperwork, appointments, and safe placement. Our approach is hands-on, respectful, and built on trusted connections.

  • Respect and dignity in every interaction
  • Hands-on support with intake and documentation
  • Coordination with the VA and community partners
  • Follow-through until a safe plan is in place

We believe outreach should be consistent, respectful, and practical.

  • Dignity first — Every veteran deserves respect and care.
  • Action over words — We focus on real steps toward safety and stability.
  • Partnership matters — We coordinate with trusted agencies to strengthen outcomes.
  • No veteran left behind — We follow through instead of passing someone along.

We serve veterans in South Carolina by connecting them to housing stabilization resources and coordinated support.

  • Service area: Richland, Orangeburg, Spartanburg, Aiken, Lexington, and Sumter counties.
  • Who we serve: Honorably discharged veterans experiencing homelessness or housing crisis.
  • Support extends to: Those advocating for a veteran in need — including family, friends, and community members.
